  • Texas Democratic Veterans

Frederick is a dedicated leader with a 23-year U.S. Army career, where he retired as an Armor First Sergeant in 2012. Following his military service, he became an educator and currently serves as an assistant principal, continuing his commitment to empowering others. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Grantham University, a Master’s in History from American Military University, and a Principal Certification from Lamar University.

In his volunteer work, Frederick has been highly active in the Texas Democratic Party, working tirelessly to engage marginalized communities, promote civic participation, and lead initiatives for voter registration and education, particularly in rural Texas. His focus on these communities has notably increased voter turnout in these areas. Although he holds partisan positions, including Chair of the Texas Veterans Caucus, regional representative, and Chair of the Texas Black Caucus, Frederick’s commitment to voting as a civil right transcends political lines. He has collaborated with diverse organizations to further civic engagement and regularly offers free consultation to support local candidates and organizations.

Frederick is deeply involved in his community, holding roles on multiple boards and commissions, including the Collin County Democratic Party, the Collin County NAACP (as Chair of Education), and the City of Melissa Library Board. He is also an author, co-writing The History of Alpha Phi Alpha: Origins of the Eastern Region in 2017. A proud New York City native, he now shares his life with his wife, Tarnesha—also retired from the Army—and their five children and seven grandchildren. Frederick’s service-oriented spirit, compassion, and leadership are evident in his ongoing contributions to his community.

He is also an outstanding educator who has made the exciting transition from teacher to assistant principal. This individual has consistently exemplified the very best qualities of a teacher and leader, inspiring both students and colleagues with their dedication, vision, and compassion.

As a teacher, they brought unmatched energy and enthusiasm into the classroom, creating a space where every student felt seen, valued, and capable of achieving their best. Known for being an incredible communicator and mentor, they possessed a rare ability to connect with students on a personal level, addressing both academic and emotional needs with sensitivity and empathy. Their teaching style was dynamic and engaging, incorporating creativity and rigor in a way that made learning both accessible and exciting.

This educator’s passion for student success extended beyond the classroom as they worked tirelessly to build relationships with parents, support school initiatives, and mentor new teachers. They have always led by example, showing a deep commitment to educational excellence and a genuine love for the craft of teaching. Colleagues, students, and parents alike have come to respect and admire them, both for their personal integrity and for the positive impact they’ve had on everyone around them.

As an assistant principal, they bring the same dedication and innovative spirit to a larger stage, applying their expertise to support the entire school community. He continues to be a champion for student-centered learning, constantly seeking ways to improve the school environment and advocating for resources and opportunities that will benefit students and teachers alike. His presence in this new role has already elevated the school’s culture, fostering an atmosphere of inclusivity, support, and high expectations.

His transition from educator to assistant principal feels like a natural progression, as they have consistently demonstrated all the qualities of a leader—visionary thinking, strategic planning, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to equity and excellence.
